After HFSD
Graduate from HFSD. Stay with Humanity First.
Your chapter years end at graduation. Your place in Humanity First does not. Here is how HFSD members carry their service into Humanity First USA, and how alumni can help the next generation do the same.
The pathway
From your chapter to Humanity First USA.
HFSD is the official student auxiliary of Humanity First USA, so the work you do on campus is already Humanity First work. Graduation changes where you serve, not who you serve with.
Senior year
Register as an HFSD alumnus.
Complete the HFSD alumni form before you leave campus, so the national team can stay in touch after graduation.
Final semester
Hand your chapter off well.
Pass your role, contacts, and records to the next board, and introduce them to your regional coordinator.
After graduation
Volunteer with Humanity First USA.
Sign up on the Humanity First USA volunteer page. It reaches out when an opportunity matches your interests and availability.
For years to come
Keep serving where you land.
Fundraise for a Humanity First USA program, give, and bring the people around you into the work.
Ways to stay involved
What Humanity First USA offers. Open to every graduate.
Volunteer
Sign up through the volunteer form. Volunteers for roles outside disaster response are encouraged to commit to at least three months, and some specialized roles require training or prior experience.
Fundraise
Raise funds for Humanity First USA as a whole, or direct your fundraiser to a single program such as Disaster Relief or Gift of Sight.
Disaster Relief
Humanity First USA responds to natural and humanitarian disasters at home and abroad, and asks supporters to help by donating, volunteering, and spreading awareness.
Doctors 4 Humanity
For alumni who go on to careers in medicine: the Humanity First USA community of volunteer medical professionals who respond to disasters, join medical missions, and volunteer in the United States.
Give
Give to Humanity First USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, once or every month.
Events and careers
Humanity First USA lists its upcoming events and missions, and posts staff openings on its careers page.
Continuing to graduate or medical school? HFSOs are also registered at graduate and medical schools, so you can keep serving through a chapter. Find a chapter.
Now being launched
The HFSD Alumni Ambassador Program.
HFSD is launching an Alumni Ambassador Program to keep former members engaged with Humanity First USA: serving, volunteering, and bringing new people directly into its work. Alumni Ambassadors will stay close to the chapters they came from and open the door for others.
The program is being shaped now. Details on how Ambassadors are chosen and what the role involves will be shared with registered alumni as they are confirmed.
Questions about the program? Write to students@us.humanityfirst.org with the subject “Alumni Ambassador interest.”
